| Answer: Approximately 6000 years! | ||||||
| How is this possible? The Decaying Magnetic Field The decaying magnetic field of the earth limits the earth's age to no more than 10,000 years. Beyond 10,000 years, the earth's magnetic field would have been as strong as the magnetic field of a magnetic star, which exhibits thermonuclear processes. The earth has no such processes, nor has it ever had any such processes, contributing to the magnetic field. Read more about this in "Scientific Creationism" by Henry Morris. The Influx Rate of Minerals into the Oceans When the amount of various minerals in the oceans is divided by the influx rate of those minerals into the oceans, the result indicates only a few thousand years of accumulation. Does Pangea explain this? No. The problems with Pagea are as large as the theory itself. Just because the continents look like they fit together does not mean that at one time they were joined together. Proponents of the Pangea theory shrunk the continent of Africa approximately 40% and completely left out Central America. Opposite banks of a river look as though they were once joined. The movement of the water has cut through the landscape. The land did not move apart! Opposite shoulders of a winding road look as though they were once joined together. The Department of Transportation did not move the plates of the earth to construct the road; they simply cut a road through the landscape! Stalactite and Stalagmite Formations The largest flowstone formations could have easily formed in less than 4400 years. The Lincoln Memorial, Fort Pickens Refrigeration Shed, Mt. Isa Lead Mine (Australia), and the flowstone covered bat pictured in National Geographic Magazine - October 1953, are just some of the evidences that prove flowstone formations can form in short periods of time. How and When Did it All Happen? According the the Holy Bible: 1. Approximately 6000 years ago God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1) 2. Approximately 4400 years ago God caused the great world wide flood (Genesis 7) The following facts support what the Holy Bible says. There are NO conflicts between the Bible and science. After all, the secular scientists used to believe the world was flat. The Bible, in the original text, indicates that the world is spherical (Read the book of Job, the oldest book in the Bible, for this and other exciting scientific insights from God's Word!) It always seems to take secular scientist a while to catch up to the truth! The Largest Desert The Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world. It is about 4000 years old, as indicated in any earth science textbook. The Oldest Living Coral Reef The Great Barrier Reef is the largest and oldest coral reef in the world. It is less than 4200 years old. The Oldest Living Tree The oldest living tree in the wolrd is the Bristle Cone Pine in southern California. It is about 4300 years old.
